Hi, it’s Jamie.
There’s one word that describes how I feel about the next few months.
Nervouscited.
If you missed Part 1, Lucy and I are relocating our workshop to Glasgow after spending 13 years in a shed at the bottom of the garden.
As you can imagine, that’s big.
But this update is just a small one.
The walls are up
Last time, I showed you the cavernous old Kodak factory building where our new workshop will be.
The interior is massive. More than enough for a game of soccer.
But now, our new partition walls have been built by resident joiner ‘Guy’ and things are starting to take shape.
Here’s some progress photos 👇

Confession
One of my biggest regrets with Banton is not sharing more of the journey.
Building a business in public feels scary, especially when you’re just starting out.
But Lucy and I promised each other that we’d document our big move and show you the nitty gritty of what’s going on.
For 13 years, we’ve dreamt of having a ‘proper’ workshop. One with a solid floor that’s level and walls that don’t grow black mould.
I’m equally nervous and excited.
Yea, nervouscited.
Next time
Being the geeks we are, Lucy and I have made our own plan drawings for the new workshop.
I’m talking nerdy blueprints.
Next time, I’ll show you the layout and how we’re going to self-build our new workbenches.
Until then, thanks for reading.
Bye for now,
Jamie, co-founder x
PS: I'm no architect, but there's something really cool about the structure of the old Kodak building. So I did some 'digging' and found an old (hand drawn) elevation drawing which shows the lovely arched 'truss' profile.
