Yes, we can adjust your glasses.
At any point after you order them during one of our releases, you can send your frame back to us for adjustment. That’s part of what you’re investing in.
Comfort is king, right?
A well-made frame should feel perfectly balanced. Not too tight. Not constantly slipping down your nose. Not sitting slightly off without you quite knowing why.
To make that happen, Lucy and I offer unlimited adjustments with every pair of our handmade frames.
This isn’t a one-off service. It’s an ongoing relationship with your glasses. We made them, so we take responsibility for how they feel on your face, long after they arrive.
Here’s how it all works 👇
Adjustments we can make
- Tighten the head aperture so the frame hugs the side of your head more securely, or loosen it if things feel a bit too snug
- Adjust how the temples (arms) hook behind your ears, so they sit closer or more relaxed depending on what feels right for you
- Carefully widen the bridge if you feel pressure on your nose, by removing small amounts of material from the acetate nose pads (this is a permanent modification).
- Straighten a frame that’s sitting unevenly, either on your head or on a flat surface
- Correct slight twists or warps from everyday wear to bring it back into alignment
Adjustments we can’t make
- We can’t change the size or overall shape of the frame once it’s made.
- We can’t alter the acetate colour or surface finish, such as changing it from high-gloss to matte
- We also can’t carry out major structural changes like adding adjustable metal nose pads
If your frame requires repair we offer a paid, lifetime repairs service which we can discuss via email. However, if your glasses become damaged beyond repair, we’ll always be honest about that and guide you on the best next step.
How many adjustments can I get?
There’s no limit, no set number, and no expiry. If your glasses need adjusting in a week, a moth, or a year down the line, you can send them back to us. That’s all part of the service.
Are adjustments free?
Yes. All standard adjustments are included with your frame, with no hidden fees for tightening, loosening, or realigning the fit your glasses. However, if your frame requires repair or refurbishment, we typically charge a small but fair fee for this type of work. We’ll always discuss that with you first beforehand.

How do I get my frame adjusted?
- Sending your glasses back to us
- Place your frame inside its protective case (these are lined with microfibre, so there’s no need for additional packaging).
- Include a note with your name, return postage address, and a short description of what doesn’t feel right
- Send it back to us using a tracked postal service.
The more detail you can give us, the better. If something feels off but you’re not quite sure how to describe it, just explain it in your own words. Photos or quick sketches can help too.
Once your frame arrives, we’ll adjust it, test it, and send it back ready to wear.
We’ll return it to the address you’ve included with your frame.
How do you make these adjustments?
Everything is done by hand here in our Glasgow workshop. We use controlled heat to gently reshape the acetate, allowing us to make small, precise refinements without stressing the material. There’s no force involved, just careful, experienced handling. And because we made your frame in the first place, we know exactly how it’s put together and how it can be adjusted safely.
Can I adjust my glasses myself?
Yes, if you're relatively practical you can make certain basic adjustments to your glasses yourself. Before doing so, please get in touch to ask for specific methods and techniques to ensure you don't cause any damage to your frame or lenses.
However, if you're unsure, it’s easy to accidentally put strain through the hinges or rivets without realising, especially with thicker handmade acetate frames.
If something doesn’t feel right, it’s always safer to send them back to us and let us take care of it properly.
How long does an adjustment take?
Turnaround time depends on the type of adjustment and our workload in the workshop, but as a guide, allow 7–10 working days plus shipping time. We focus on getting it right rather than rushing it.
What if my glasses don’t feel right at first?
That’s completely normal. The first fit isn’t always perfect straight out of the box, as your face, your posture, and how you wear your glasses all play a part. We can make adjustments during the lens fitting process or at any time after your purchase, so you’re not expected to just ‘get used to it’. Lucy and I will help you dial it in properly.
Do handmade frames need more adjustment?
In some ways, yes.
We don’t use spring hinges, which are designed to flex and act as a kind of one-size-fits-all solution. They’re convenient, but they’re also one of the first things to fail over time.
Instead, we use solid hinges that are built to last.
That does mean your frame may need a bit of initial adjustment to suit you properly.
Think of it like breaking-in a good pair of leather shoes or raw denim. There’s a short period of refinement, and then they feel like yours.
Can opticians adjust glasses bought online?
Some can, yes. Certain opticians are happy to adjust glasses that weren’t purchased through them, while others prefer not to, so it’s always worth checking with your local optician in advance if that’s something you’d prefer. That said, you’ll always have the option of sending your frame back to us for adjustment, knowing it’s being handled by the people who made it.
Still deciding if Banton is for you?
As you can tell, we're a little different compared to the big optical brands. The fact you're reading this article is a miracle considering how small we are! But if 'different' is what you're looking for, perhaps you'd like my other other before-you-buy articles.
