At Banton Frameworks we design, make and assemble our handmade eyewear just outside of Glasgow. We specialise in offering a combination system that enables you to self-tailor your eyewear to suit your own style. Founded by Lucy Ross and Jamie Bartlett, we are the makers and designers behind Banton Frameworks.
Our aim is to deliver eyewear that not only has been designed and made well but enables the degree of personality that the wearer deserves when choosing such a personal item.
As spectacle makers we rely upon external processes as well as our own. It took three years to source the people and their processes capable of helping to produce our eyewear. We managed to avoid the well worn path to Eastern eyewear factories to instead focus on using what we had on our own doorstep.
A good restaurant will source their ingredients locally to produce a menu that reflects seasonal yield and demand.
Purchasing eyewear is daunting, sometimes confusing and often costly. We believe we have managed to create an alternative eyewear collection that creatively engages the wearer whilst engaging local manufacture in a more logical and cost effective way.
Currently, we are the only makers of our glasses in our small Frameworks. Designed and made in Britain to suit your style.
In batches, our internal processes consist of frame cutting; frame polishing, riveting and assembly. Between the two of us, each frame passes through these multiple processes in-house to reach you, the wearer. Each batch takes two weeks to complete resulting in high quality components ready to be tailored.
Externally, we rely on specialists that specialize on anodizing, metal machining and glazing.
Made from aviation grade Birch laminate or high quality cellulose acetate, our frames are machined in house. Our temples are precision machined from aerospace aluminium. These temples are anodised in three different colours; Silver, Charcoal or Bronze. There are three choices of acetate temple tips to comfortably fit around your ear.
Ready for optical or sun lenses to be fitted our frames can be tailored from these varying component colours and textures to create your own unique eywewear.
