Based in Glasgow, Filmore Skincare offers a range of locally made, carefully considered natural skin products for daily use. Freshly founded by Craig Roberston in early 2016 the brand is positioned as a minimal, no-fuss approach to your daily routine.

The geometric company logo takes inspiration from the nautical dialogue of semaphore flags, an established communication system implemented by maritime signalman. This reference is applied in conjunction with the use of the high quality Scottish water as part of the products ingredients. This, mixed with a stated influence for Scandinavian design is a strong theme across Filmore’s brand aesthetic. Minimally presented, the F range is delivered in neutral tones of white, black and grey tubular dispensers. Contrary to many of mass market products, the neutrality of Filmore’s packaging allows comfortable placement within any bathroom environment whilst elevating the contents within. It's this confident quietness which we're particularly drawn to via Filmore’s feed on Instagram.

Made from listed ingredients such as pomegranate extract, coconut essence and aloe vera, the range expectedly adopts and ethical stance. With no animal testing, each product consists of fully natural compounds seen via the ingredient breakdown. The F collection consists of four products covering each corner of your routine. F1, F2, F3 & F4 each take the form of a face wash, moisturiser, body wash and an eye gel. These can be purchased individually, from a  pre arranged kit or even a monthly subscription via their website. Bottled within airless pump action tubes, Filmore have endeavoured to ensure elevated hygiene and minimal wastage from their clean white dispensers.

Filmore’s understated positioning has rightfully stirred a buzz of attention from the creative community; recently earning placement within design-led stockists and raadio interview feature inside the esteemed Monocle Magazine website. With a simplistic online store and strong design ethos we were delighted to discover Filmore’s products are being locally made and beautifully presented in their Nordic inspired tubes.

We suggest you head over for a closer look using the links at the foot of this feature.

NATIVE is a blog series intended to showcase select brands who implement product manufacture here in the UK. Admittedly, not all aspects of every product can be made here, however we are most interested in those that can.

UK production has changed dramatically over the decades. Like every industry, embracing change is vital, not just to survive but to thrive in conjunction with social, economic and technological advancement.

Recognition of businesses, old and new, that implement outright or even partial local production is something we are genuinely passionate about. As designers, it is our belief that people should know more about how, why and where great products are made in the UK.

NATIVE is our way of sharing this information.

"Every contrivance of man, every tool, every instrument, every utensil, every article designed for use, of each and every kind, evolved from very simple beginnings."

Robert Collier
